Starting in March 1997 until the project was sold and integrated into citysearch.com in early 1999, Loris Scagliarini designed over 500 still and animation banners for Microsofts San Francisco, CA, and Seattle, WA, sidewalk.com city guides.
In those "old millennium" times, there was no fancy Fireworks or ImageReady software to optimize and animate for the web. Photoshop 4 and DeBabilizer 3 were new. To get the 126-pixel wide by 135-pixel tall gif tiles down to 5k often required opening a file in two or three different applications as well as compromising some quality.
It was however a lot of fun meeting a great variety of clients in the Seattle, WA, and San Francisco Bay areas.
